Anniversary

Those of you with double-digit years of marriage will hardly find it amazing but my wife and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary this past week (leather). Its amazing to both of us that 3 short years ago we ventured 1000 miles away from family and started our lives together in Texas.

There is something amazing about paint. Ah! The smell of work!!! I've written about Father's Day before but now I'm going to write about how I spent my 1st Father's Day. I spent my 1st Father's Day painting, or, rather, my first father's day weekend.

Tying Shoes

This probably comes as no surprise to fathers who have already gone through a pregnancy but I was surprised to find my self tying my wife's shoes the other day. Why? Because she couldn't do it herself. Her pregnant belly crashes into her thighs and her breasts crash into her belly.

The Cold

Does anyone remember the scene in the second "Father of the Bride" film where Steve Martin is wearing a winter jacket, fur, mittens, and tending to his pregnant wife and daughter who are sweating? He then prepares to leave the house and under the winter coat reveals shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.

There seems to be some confusion about when, exactly, fatherhood and motherhood begin and with Father's Day rapidly approaching this topic needs to be addressed. This doesn't seem to be so confusing for my wife and I because we consider ourselves parents already.
