Do You Have a Picture?

Recently, when I was up and away from a computer, someone asked to see a picture of my son. Strangely, I didn't have one. My wife and I have not yet physically printed out any pictures of our son.

One of the challenges of fatherhood has been having less time to complete the same number of tasks. My wife had been wonderful by trying to give me time to do my work. During her six weeks of time off from work our schedules were irrevocably changed.

My son's first poop was a joyous celebration! My wife and I cheered and gave each other high-fives. We were so excited to see proof that his insides were working properly. We were jumping for joy to have a concrete and visible reason to cover his bottom with that drawer full of diapers.

I don't really remember when I was really young. My parents often ask me about this or that family vacation and I truly have a hard time remembering. Sometimes they show me pictures which help my memory a little bit but I am largely unable to mentally recall much of my time when I was young.

In an effort to gain much needed hours of sleep for my wife I am often charged with taking my crying son out of the bedroom in the middle of the night for as long as he will put up with me. Mommy, in turn, is able to sleep and replenish a drastically drained milk supply while we are away.
