Giants Say “Thanks…See Ya” to Barry Bonds

Well, you know I have not been very pleased about the whole Barry Bonds home run record situation. And now, perhaps as a parting shot for a player that has brought them both fame and infamy, the San Francisco Giants have given Barry Bonds his pink slip. Yes, Bonds, the all time home run king, has been told by his team of 15 years that they will not bring him back next season. And they didn’t even try to sugar coat it…much. Giant’s owner Peter Magowan said, “It’s always difficult to say goodbye. It’s an emotional time for me. We’ve … Continue reading

Bond’s Record Breaking Baseball Sold at Auction

What a difference a ball makes! If you had been lucky enough to catch Barry Bond’s record breaking #756 ball – the one that broke Hank Aaron’s old all time home run record – it would have been like catching a quarter of a million dollars. Yes, it is true. The owner of the ball, lucky New York tourist Matt Murphy, caught the ball last month. The 22-year-old was then escorted away from the crowd by police for security purposes. I find it a bit fitting that, due to all the controversy over Bonds and the record being broken, Murphy … Continue reading

Making Your Own Movies

As a father, I make it a priorit to actively involve times that require me to bond with my family. I make it a priority to make myself available and to come up with things to do that require interaction, conversation and working together. Families don’t get close by chance or by happening to have children who all want to be close. They get close because someone actively encouraged that closeness. With that said, here’s an idea that will be a blast for our family. Try making a movie together. Don’t worry, you shouldn’t aim for Gone with the Wind … Continue reading

What Have You Been Doing Online?

I was messing around on-line tonight, and an annoying pop up came on the screen. It asked if I wanted to scan my computer for records of any adult sites that my computer has visited. I didn’t want to be bothered, and I know I haven’t been to any adult websites, so I went to close the pop-up with the red square in the top right corner. That always works. However, instead of closing the pop-up, it took me to the home page of the company that wanted to sell me their adult filter software. The page said that their … Continue reading

Star Athletes Score Big With New Additions

Shortly after Barry Bonds hit his 756th home run last night he rounded the bases and took his 17-year-old batboy son, Nikolai into his arms. After an emotional embrace the San Francisco Giants’ slugger’s mother, two daughters and wife joined father and son on the field. Bonds broke the home run record in front of a 43,000-strong home crowd that included his godfather, Hall of Famer Willie Mays. So the momentous occasion truly was a family affair. In tribute to Bonds’ feat I thought it would be appropriate to salute some other famous athletes on their achievements off the field—namely … Continue reading

Dancing with Daddy

Here is an awesome way to bond with your daughter. Dance with her. Don’t wait until her wedding day and your future son in law cuts in after you dance with her to the song, “Daddy’s Little Girl”. Take the chance to dance with her every time you can. My wife and I homeschool our children, and we went on a field trip to Lincoln Center on the West Side of New York City today. There was an event called Lincoln Center Outdoors, and it involved live music from many musical styles and performances of many dance disciplines. It was … Continue reading
