How to Keep From Going Insane

This technically is an “ask a baby blogger” blog. I’ve been asked numerous times how I keep my sanity with all of my children. The truth is. . .I really like being a mother. Ask my husband; I have infinite patience for potty accidents, and fussy babies. I even have a pretty high tolerance level for temper tantrums. . .but that’s another story. In fact, now that our little ones are nearer to three than they are to two. . .I kind of miss having an infant. But I remember the house bound days of having a newborn. Bathing was … Continue reading

The Ultimate “Dad Wins” Water Fight

Here’s a fun idea for you and your family to try before the end of summer for some good old fashioned family bonding. Get everyone into their bathing suits for a water fight and choose your caliber of water weapon. You could start very easily at the entry level with spray bottles (best for young children). This is a way that you can get each other moist, without getting totally soaked. If this is too tame for you, the next step up is a simple dime store squirt gun for everyone who is going to play. Dancing with Daddy

Here is an awesome way to bond with your daughter. Dance with her. Don’t wait until her wedding day and your future son in law cuts in after you dance with her to the song, “Daddy’s Little Girl”. Take the chance to dance with her every time you can. My wife and I homeschool our children, and we went on a field trip to Lincoln Center on the West Side of New York City today. There was an event called Lincoln Center Outdoors, and it involved live music from many musical styles and performances of many dance disciplines. It was … Continue reading

Dads in the News–Barry Bonds

Barry Bonds is on the brink of tying and then surpassing the greatest record in all of sports: the all time home run record. This should have been a feat uniformly celebrated and revered, but instead it is ensnared in controversy. While he tries to make baseball history, Barry Bonds is currently being investigated in relation to testimony about his alleged use of steroids. The controversy has cast a long, deep shadow over what would otherwise be happily remembered by generations of baseball fans. Some fans continue to stand and cheer as Bonds approaches the record. Other fans boo Bonds … Continue reading
