The A B C’s of Money Part 3

Since I was having so much fun last month learning about new financial words, I think that I would like to continue doing that since I have only gotten to the letter “F” so far. As I learn more and more about money, I realize just how much I do not know about money and finance. That is not a good thing in my opinion because knowledge is power and my finances are definitely something that I want to feel empowered about. So, onward we go with more financial words. A guarantee is the assumption of responsibility for payment of … Continue reading

Family Support and the Home Based Professional

If you are a home-based professional parent, then you already know how important the support of your family is to the success of your business. If you are thinking about becoming a home-based professional parent, one of the things that you should think about as you plan your home-based business is the amount and type of support that your immediate and extended family are able to provide. National Adoption Month 2010

November is National Adoption Month! I won’t go into the history or anything, since that has already been explained quite well in a previous post. I will say that I didn’t even realize myself that there was such a thing until this week! I arrived home from work on Monday to find a post put out by the Child Welfare Information Gateway about National Adoption Month showing up in my Facebook news feed! Math Class and The Importance of Numbers

Do you hate math class? Do you loathe numbers, fractions, division and multiplication, and/or the elusive “imaginary” number? I’d like to suggest that you learn to love them, or at least get along. One of the most useful skills to have, even in day to day situations, is the ability to think in and utilize numbers to your advantage. If the constant progression of humanity has left us anything at all (and it has) math is one of the most valuable of those skills. You see, numbers are important. I’ve recently been teaching my son to count (kind of) and … Continue reading

One Month and Many Examples

My son is officially one month old today. There have been thousands of photographs, hundreds of nursing sessions, about 30 days without sleeping the whole night through, and one large family visit. This month also included the return to being a full-time student, part-time teacher, and infrequent graphic designer for Dad. I’ve been noticing a trend about my approaches to fatherhood. Remember that whole idea about becoming like your parents as you age? I’ve kind of figured out why. My primary example of fatherhood is my own father. Similarly, parenthood has primarily been modeled for me by my parents. In … Continue reading
