Love on the High Seas

It’s called the “Love Boat” for a reason. Each year tens of thousands of couples head out on the high seas to celebrate their relationships. While some decide to tie the knot on cruise ships, others come for the quiet sunsets, romance and intimacy. Often, though, the sentimental setting can spark lovebirds to rededicate themselves onboard luxury ocean liners. Most major cruise ships offer vow renewal ceremonies for passengers who request them before setting sail. A generic package includes: A vow renewal ceremony performed on the ship, music, a bouquet for her and a boutonniere for him, as well as … Continue reading

Mittens Moms Love

The No Snow Snuggler mitten is more than just a mitten. This great winter product invention is a blessing that both kids and their moms adore. The No Snow Snuggler is actually a shirt that is worn underneath your child’s winter jacket. The mittens are built right into the sleeves and extend up to the child’s elbow. The shirt itself is made out of fleece with a high collar to protect your child’s neck, giving added warmth in that area. The shirt portion of the No Snow Snuggler has an easy access zipper up the front of it. This protective … Continue reading

Why I Love Pocket Diapers

I have been cloth diapering my son since he was a little over a year old. I was always hesitant to start earlier because I thought washing was going to be a hassle. Now that I am in the thick of it, I realize it’s no big deal. Diapers are much easier to wash than normal clothes because there’s no sorting or folding involved. You definitely don’t have to worry about whether your cloth diapers are wrinkled, so it’s okay to just let them sit in the dryer for a while if you don’t have time to take them out. … Continue reading

Are Dating Sites A Good Place To Find True Love?

By the time I got divorced, my oldest daughter was in her late teens and my youngest was 10. Although I wasn’t ready to run to the altar any time soon, I did find that I wanted to date, and perhaps find my true “Mr. Right.” Flying solo on yet another Valentin’s Day wasn’t something I looked forward to. Not wanting to leave things in the hands of fate, I signed up on a few respected online dating sites. I didn’t go crazy with the dating thing, and I always tried to be very careful about who I talked to. … Continue reading

Tips for Puppy-Proofing Your Home

There’s something irresistible about baby animals, isn’t there? Puppies, kittens, chicks, and more… so innocent, sweet, and cuddly! But for baby animals, some things around your house may be irresistable… and dangerous. It’s best to puppy-proof (or kitten-proof, or whatever animal you have-proof) your home BEFORE the new family member comes home. Even if you don’t get every potential hazard out of the way, you’ll still be ahead of the game! First things first: get a pet’s eye view on the world. That means crouching down — or crawling on your hands and knees — to see what the room … Continue reading

The Greatest Love Story

Valentines Day- the day for lovers has been and gone. All the restaurants in the area had special Valentines Day lunches and dinners offered, some with a free rose or glass of champagne. Shops made a fortune encouraging people to but expensive gifts to show how much they loved their Valentines. Thanks to our media we hear a lot about love and from books we learn about the great love stories. Among the great love stories of Romeo and Juliet, Anthony and Cleopatra, etc there’s one love story that stands out. It surpasses all of them and it involved the … Continue reading

The Proof of Love

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!!! Normally my wife and I avoid this holiday like the plague. It is far too sickeningly sweet and filled with faux intentions and proclamations for us to put a great deal of effort into the day itself. This Valentine’s Day, though, we decided to have a good time at home, with each other, and not be too concerned about the hustle and bustle of restaurants, shopping centers, and other items covered in paper red or glossy pink hearts. We realized that we had what I’ll call a “proof of love” built into our day already. What … Continue reading

Love and Valentine’s Day

Still a few days to go and I have absolutely had it with Valentine’s Day and all the hype. Hasn’t it all got out of hand that Valentine’s Day is now such a major production? Everywhere you look are advertisements for buying lingerie and chocolates and jewelry and, and, and… the list goes on. But the ones that really annoy me most are the catalogues that keep arriving in multiples in our letter box suggesting men show their love by buying their wives or sweethearts a diamond ring. Well, I know one thing Mick won’t be buying me for Valentine’s … Continue reading

My Love of Meatloaf

My dad makes a killer meatloaf. When he pulls it out of the oven it’s not swimming in oil nor is it dehydrated and crusty like decade-old fruitcake. Rather, it’s a perfectly juicy blend of meat and spices glistening with a glaze of his secret tomato sauce. I left home after graduating from high school and have never been able to find a recipe that came anywhere close to my dad’s famous meatloaf. Boston Market’s meatloaf is quite tasty, as is the version served at The Machine Shed, but they don’t include all of the extras my dad puts in … Continue reading

The Proof of Love is Obedience

Love of Jesus requires us to be obedient. If we profess to love Him we cannot do as we please, we must be obedient to His commands, Jesus tells us, John 14:15. Thankfully we are not left to do this alone. Jesus promised a Helper to be with the disciples and to be with us forever, verse 16. This Helper is the spirit of truth. The spirit of truth helps us discern what is right and true. We can know Him because he abides with us and is with us, verse 17. How wonderful for the disciples and for us … Continue reading
